Frequently Asked Questions
- Why does the software stop working after
30 days?
Desktop Scout is distributed with a free
trial period. You may trial the program for
a period of 30 days from the day you first install
it onto your computer. After your 30-day trial
period is over, you must decide if you want
to purchase the software. If you enjoyed the
software and found it useful, you will need
to purchase a license to use the program indefinitely.
If not, you should remove it from your computer.
The main advantage of shareware is that you
get to try the software before you pay for it
to determine if it suits your needs.
- Our company purchased some licenses previously but now we need more. How can I upgrade the number of licenses?
You will need to purchase the additional licenses as normal. Once you have done this, e-mail us and let us know and we will lookup both your orders, merge your license key into one, and send you back a combined license key.
The automated license key you will receive after making the purchase above can be disregarded, as we will need to manually send you the merged license key.
- How many licenses do we need to purchase for your product?
This depends on the product that you are purchasing. Read the Volume Licensing popup window on the
purchase page for more detail, or contact us if you are still unclear about this.
- My computer crashed recently and I lost
my license key. Can I get another copy?
If you have lost your license key, send
us an e-mail which includes your full name and
e-mail address at time of registration. After
verifying the details are correct, we will re-issue
your license key free of charge. We recommend
that you keep a backup of your license key on
a floppy disk or CD-ROM.
- I downloaded a file from your web site but my computer says it is corrupted.
This problem can usually be caused by your computer or your ISP cacheing an incomplete version of the file. Each time you attempt to download the file you will retrieve the cached incomplete copy.
You should try clearing your web browsers cache if you know how. Alternatively if you wait 24-48 hours, the cache usually clear automatically so you could try again after waiting this amount of time.
