Agent Settings
General
- Change the Agent password: Change the password
that is used to access the Agent.
- Accept TCP connections on port: The Agent will
listen for incoming connections on this port number. You
can leave this to the default value of 7250 if you are unsure.
- Hide process in Windows Task Manager: The Agent
process will not show up in the Windows Task Manager when
this is enabled. This prevents the user from noticing the
program is running or attempting to terminate the process.
- Hide program from Add/Remove Programs applet: Desktop
Scout will not show up in Add/Remove Programs when this
is enabled. This prevents the user from noticing the application
is installed or attempting to uninstall it.
Stealth
- Show warning icon in the system tray: When a user
is logged on, a small icon will be displayed near the clock
warning them that they are under surveillance. You can select
the icon using the slide bar and type in the message that
you want to appear when the user hovers the mouse over the
icon.
- Show warning message when user logs on: You can
show the user a warning message when they logon, notifying
them that they are being monitored. This message will appear
each time the user logs on and will remain on the desktop
until they press OK. You can customize the message that
is displayed by typing it in the text box below.
Applications
- Enable Applications Log: Allows you to see which
programs have been used, the time and duration of use, and
optionally any keystrokes entered into those programs.
- Minimum usage: Specify the minimum time, in seconds,
that an application must be used for in order to be logged.
For example, if you specify 5 seconds and the program is
only used for 1 second, it will not be logged.
- Log keystrokes typed in applications: For each
application log entry, you can choose to also record the
keystrokes that the user typed into that program. This allows
you to see what the user typed into e-mails, web browsers,
chat conversations, documents, etc.
- Log size limit: Specify the size limit of the Application
Log folder to prevent it from growing indefinitely. When
this limit is reached, the oldest log files will be deleted
automatically.
Screenshots
- Enable Screenshots Log: Saves an image of the users
desktop at regular intervals, so you can see what the user
was doing at that time.
- Image frequency: Specify how often, in seconds,
the screenshot image should be taken. If you make this number
too low (less than 30 seconds), it will consume more CPU
time and hard drive space.
- Discard image when user is idle: If the user is
away and the screen saver is running, the program will not
bother taking a screenshot of the screen saver until the
user returns.
- Log size limit: Specify the size limit of the Screenshots
Log folder to prevent it from growing indefinitely. When
this limit is reached, the oldest log files will be deleted
automatically.
Web Sites
- Enable Web Sites Log: Records a log of all web
sites visited using Internet Explorer. The log shows the
title, URL, time and duration each web page was viewed.
- Minimum usage: Specify the minimum time, in seconds,
that an web site must be viewed in order to be logged. For
example, if you specify 5 seconds and the web site is only
viewed for 1 second, it will not be logged.
IP Fetch
- Enable automatic tracking of dynamic IP address:
IP Fetch is a feature which keeps of Agent's with dynamic
IP addresses. This allows you to automatically check the
most recent IP address for an Agent using the Viewer. You
will need to create
an IP Fetch account, and enter the username and password
into the both the Agent and Viewer.
